**Job Summary:**
Creates and maintains specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products per company, industry, national, and international standards, while positively impacting the organization's performance.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Ensure model and drawing quality in accordance with company and industry standards.
+ Create and maintain product specifications utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) data management tools for configuration control and security.
+ Apply company, industry, national, and international standards in product design.
+ Process internal engineering work requests.
+ Engage with required functional areas as needed.
+ Participate in the maintenance of standards and practices that ensure quality.
+ Conduct and contribute to Drawing Quality Reviews.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Competencies:**
+ **Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis**– Create CAD models in accordance with Cummins' standards for system design concepts and system-level analyses (e.g., Dimensional Variation Analysis, Finite Element Analysis).
+ **Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems** – Apply knowledge of mechanical systems to create innovative, sound design concepts that meet Cummins and customer expectations.
+ **Mechanical Design Specification** – Develop complete specifications, including solid models, configured engineering bills of materials, and detailed drawings.
Ensure compliance with national, international, industry, and Cummins’standards.
+ **Product Configuration and Change Management** – Establish and maintain configuration-managed product baselines, track and control changes from concept to obsolescence, and ensure accurate documentation.
+ **Effective Communication** – Deliver clear and concise communications tailored to different audiences.
+ **Decision Quality** – Make timely and sound decisions that support organizational progress.

**Education, Licenses, and Certifications:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field required.
+ A regionally applicable certification or an associate’s degree from an accredited college/university in a relevant field may be required.
+ This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Experience:**
+ Some work experience with intermediate-level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
**Industry-Specific Qualifications for Internal Candidates:**
+ Experience working in CREO on engine components (plumbing, sheet metal, casting, etc.).
+ Knowledge of product lifecycle and manufacturing processes, including Design for Assembly.+ Basic knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD) and Mechanical Component Modeling (MCM) is preferred.
+ Understanding of engine component functions, GD&T, and drafting standards is preferred.
+ Strong engineering fundamentals with expertise in engines and subsystems.
+ Hands-on experience with CREO (2D&3D), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (e.g., Windchill), and casting component design.
+ Ability to comprehend product features and their interdependencies.
